Watched on the 10,000th day I was alive, January 24th 2015.

I'd seen the trailer and thought it was really interesting, made me think of the AI in a box experiment. But, although I had my interest piqued by that thought train, I wasn't particularly confident that it would be reflected in the film. As it turns out, that was a strong theme of the film, but it just wasn't quite tailored to my tastes enough for me to love it. I spent most of the film distracted wondering which of the dangling plot twists would manifest, like who'd turn out to be a robot or whether the cameras were really off or whose ulterior motive was what.

It came out in America and everyone on reddit is talking about it, and it was getting enough attention that I started to think of it positively and wanted to rewatch it. Knowing what was going to happen made it very different to watch. Instead of being distracted by the myriad possibilities, I could just watch it unfold. It was very clever, really. The director did a good job.
