Journal

Watched the first hour and a half on the night of the 15th, the night after watching Princess Mononoke. Interestingly different - the animation seems a lot more modern, whether it's the 'framerate' (the older films had a noticeably low frame count for some animations), or the lighting, or the use of computer graphics I'm not sure. It's pretty surreal, and I'm not sure what Miyazaki was going for - it's quite unlike the earlier films. Neither epic fantasy nor plane/technology showcasing.

Finished it the following night. Not impressed. Couldn't understand why half the stuff was happening, it was like a stupid kid's movie with a bunch of inane unrelated irrelevant crap just because. The giant baby? I was going to list it but it's basically everything in the film.
