Recommended, I think, by some guy on reddit[1]. At least, he enjoyed The Stars My Destination which is apparently a sci-fi interpretation of it or something. Probably worth reading, though, more than I would judge from first impressions.
In September 2013 someone on reddit suggested Peter Jackson make an epic trilogy out of it, and everyone commenting said there's too much in it to make into a trilogy. Wow, interesting...
