Journal[]

In August 2013 I saw it recommended in an article deriding Elysium[1], and looking it up thought it sounded really promising.

On the 23rd of February 2014 Mum and I went to the cinema to see 12 Years a Slave but it was sold out, so I put this on when we got home.

It was well made in many ways, I think. The music, acting, dialogue, were all very immersing. I suppose my problem with it was that it was a bit unsubtle. The guy was simultaneously completely innocent and likeable to the audience while being the perfect target of the fears of child abusers - living alone, not being much into women, working with children, etc. I suppose in a way it's like To Kill a Mockingbird, but for some reason I don't rate it as highly.
